Iowa State Representative Dave Williams proudly serves the communities of House District 60 as well as the entire Cedar Valley.
Dave is a 40 year resident of the Cedar Valley, arriving here in 1979 to continue his John Deere career as an engineer and manager. Dave was fortunate to have a varied career while continuing to live in the Cedar Valley. He retired from Deere in 2008 to spend time with family, teach in the UNI Department of Business, serve as Cedar Falls School Board Vice President, volunteer for additional community initiatives in the environment and historic preservation, and pursue hobbies.
Prior to his 2008 retirement, he volunteered in the classroom, served on the Boards of Cedar Falls Utilities, including a term as Chair, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters, as well as some statewide organizations.
Dave was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and will be completing the second session of his first term in 2020. He served on the Appropriations, Education Budget, Commerce, Transportation, and Agriculture committees. His education and experience in engineering and business served the District well in the first session and will continue to do so in the next session.
The drive and the ability to look at issues from all sides, coupled with technical and business acumen, have been assets in developing credibility within both parties. Dave was quickly recognized as the only engineer in the house and was able to influence proposed legislation addressing environmental and business related technical issues within the Commerce Committee and Transportation Committee.
A considerable amount of time during the interim has been dedicated to meeting with individuals and interest groups to assure that Dave understands the sentiment of the District. He also attended a nonpartisan Clean Energy Conference to learn what other states are doing and what is possible for Iowa.
